Hi, I'm Rebecca.
I live in Pearland, TX with my husband and our two kids. When I'm not busy doing our laundry or finding the scissors, I'm making jewelry. When I'm not in my studio, I'm having a coffee or ogling my plants.

I find a lot of peace in making and great satisfaction in being able to wear something I've made. This is true for jewelry as well as clothes. I'm always desperate to make something and I'm basically a sucker for anything DIY.

My Story
For as long as I can remember I've loved to make things with my hands. My interest in making jewelry started when I was a kid. I remember watching my neighbor sitting on her front stoop knotting embroidery thread into bracelets. When she told me she sold them at concerts and crafts fairs, I was enamored. I quickly learned to make my own friendship bracelets and collected all of the colorful thread I could imagine.
After college, early in my engineering career, I was still being pulled toward making jewelry. I started off collecting gemstone beads and metal findings and eventually enrolled in classes at the Glassel School of Art to learn metalsmithing. From there my arsenal grew to include an acetylene torch, metal forming tools, and lots of hammers. Following a period of self-doubt and burn out, and after moving into our first house, my tools were never unpacked.
In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, I found myself being pulled toward handcrafting again. This time, toward polymer clay. On social media, I found that makers were using polymer clay to offer lightweight statement earrings in a more modern and vibrant way. I was hooked.
Jane + July Handcrafted will always be a place where I offer, high-quality, handmade jewelry. My passion for learning and collecting various materials, techniques, and tools will mean an ever-changing range of products. I love polymer clay for its versatility, beading for its meditative power, and metals for their complexity and strength. I hope that my slow-making and love of color, texture, and quality finishings is something that you will enjoy as much as I do.
